We offer a safe, supportive environment within the community for individuals who have experienced mental/emotional difficulties.
Our mission is to create an atmosphere that is safe, accepting, educational and without stigma. Our goal is to treat each other with mutual respect and kindness.
Peer Support
At the center, individuals are able to interact with others who have shared similar experiences, such as hospitalizations, medications, doctors, and therapies.
We believe in supporting each other through kindness, understanding, and without stigma.
Education & Training
The Drop-In Center provides resources for individuals to live a productive and independent life within their community.
From guest speakers, hands on activities, and store responsibilities, we offer a variety of opportunities for growth and knowledge.
Community Advocate
A powerful and passionate support system is established to help our members take control of their mental and physical health and well-being.
Our staff & volunteers are passionate about helping our members, and that passion extends far beyond our front doors. We advocate for individuals who need extra care.
“[Because of Empowerment Network] I learned to socialize around people better. [It] makes me feel more comfortable with making friends. “

OUR HISTORY
Empowerment Network was started in 1999 by Lavonda Smith and Tim Hansen. At first it was quite small; it began with just 12 members who would meet at each other’s houses a few times a week.
In 2000, we purchased the building in downtown Fremont. What began as a small endeavor with only a handful of people has grown into an amazing non-profit organization with over 400 members. We’re proud of where we came from, happy where we are, and excited to see what the future holds.
